What is tcgvibes.com?

tcgvibes.com tracks trading card prices card by card, every day across six games, and turns that record into two reads: a per-set price index, and the cards that broke away from their set.

Every number describes what has already happened, with its window and date attached.

The set index

Each set carries a price index built from the same card selling again over time, anchored 1.0 at the set's first measured week. A level of 1.20 means the set's resold cards sit about 20 percent above where they started. Sets without enough resales show accruing instead of a number rather than guessing.

Break-aways

Most cards move with their set. A break-away is a card whose price detached from that shared move, above it or below it. Counts are weekly and always sit next to how many cards were screened; the largest break-aways are named individually.

How cards are grouped

Cards aren't averaged across very different items. A 1999 Charizard and a 2024 Charizard are different animals. They're grouped by what makes them comparable (game, language, condition, era), and measured inside each group. See the methodology page for how the numbers are made.
